Gear Review: Winchester Super X3 Universal Hunter

18.-Winchester-Super-X3Shotguns have improved exponentially in the past decade and Winchester shotguns are no exception. Enter the Winchester Super X 3 Universal Hunter with features that certainly push the envelope for modern shotguns.

It is fast, in fact exceptionally fast, being capable of firing 12 shots in 1.442 seconds making follow up shots all but instant. The synthetic stock has a superb Inflex Technology Recoil Pad that notably reduces felt recoil (a must on heavy 3-1/2 Magnum loads), has textured gripping surfaces for a sure grip in even the foulest late fall weather, and is finished in Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity for a non-glare finish. The barrel is also back-bored for additional recoil reduction and better shot performance with less deformation. It has a drop out trigger assembly for cleaning, an ambidextrous safety that is easily reversible, is entirely load diversity capable, a Truglo Long Bead Fiber Optic front sight, cast/drop shims and length of pull spacers, an Invector Plus Choke Tube System (full, modified and improved cylinder) but what sets this shotgun apart is that the receiver is drilled and tapped for mounting a scope should you want to hunt turkey or deer. No doubt the moniker, Universal Hunter and it is available in both 12- and 20-gauges and in three or 3-1/2-inch chambers and in barrel lengths of 26 or 28 inches.
