I get a lot of requests from aspiring and professional photographers to "buy" stock submissions... that is, a photographer will e-mail me a single or a few images, and ask if Western Sportsman would like to purchase them. We usually don't operate that way — — we generally buy articles and photo packages as one, or request specific images from photographers.

In our Jan/Feb 2010 issue, on page 10, we published a news article that indicated a scuba diver had been killed by Humboldt squid while diving near Nanaimo, British Columbia. While Humboldt squid have been spotted in the area, and have been known to attack divers in other locations, following reader inquiries and further investigation, our writer’s source for information on the Nanaimo-area

The sport fishing world lost a legend recently, as Charlie White, sport fishing guru and media founder, passed away at the age of 82..

Charlie truly had a wonderful life, and he will not be forgotten.

Well, I'm back from another SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

What a show! This is the most incredible shooting, hunting and outdoor show on Earth. Imagine: 700,000 square feet of exhibition space and almost 2,000 different booths!

Not only that, I spent a day at a desert range outside of the city shooting the latest and greates firearms from all the major manufacturers.
