It's a great time of year -- and we had a great shoot out near Killam, AB, the other day.
I met up with Dennis Isbister and Dave Dakin from Final Approach Blinds (FA Brand) near Killam, just south of Camrose, and had our blinds and decoys up before first light.
The shoot started off hot, and we were finished before 10:00 am -- just in time to catch and early lunch at Bruce's Place Resturant in nearby Daysland.
I was really impressed with FA's Sport Utility Blind -- it is lightweight, comfortable and waterpoof. Dave and Dennis tell me they often set it up right in a wetland. Check them out!
I also tried out some Federal Black Cloud 3-inch shotshells. They packed a real wallop, and were great in the windy conditions. I dusted a Canada at about 15 yards with one of those!
In any case, there few better ways to spend a morning than a good bird shoot.
Now I get to try out some new recipes from our new cookbook -- COOKING WILD. If you haven't heard about this one yet, CLICK HERE to find out more, including how to order!
Have a great fall.
